Dutchman still awaiting chance

-

Dutch midfielder Kevin Brands is still on trial with Dundee.

The 28-year-old has been with the Dark Blues for a few days but plans for Paul Hartley to check him out in a closed-doors game have so far been thwarted.

Brands has struggled for gametime with relegation-threatened top flight side Go Ahead Eagles, who have recruited a number of midfielders this month.

Meanwhile, all of Dundee’s injuries have cleared up ahead of their return to action against St Mirren in the Scottish Cup this weekend.

James McPake is still working his way back to first team contention.

The Dundee players will have to score past a familiar face on Saturday, Dens Park old boy Jamie Langfield.

Buddies boss Jack Ross hailed the performance of Langfield after the 37-year-old made his first appearance in over two months in the 1-1 draw with Dunfermline.

Ross said: “It was a test for him from a mental perspective because he has been out of the team recently, but I thought he did really well.

“He is a proven goalkeeper and we didn’t have too many concerns about him going in and doing his job properly.”
