-

A full programme has been announced for the second season of outdoor concerts, performances and films at the beautiful Botanic Gardens in the heart of St Andrews this summer.

Midge Ure, Elkie Brooks, Mànran, Aly Bain and Phil Cunningham, and jazz icon Chris Barber are among the top music acts taking to the stage for Byre in the Botanics from June 29 to July 29.

Taking place in a fully-seated and covered marquee, other concerts sure to draw in the crowds include the New Orleans Swamp Donkeys, the toe-tapping Glenn Miller Orchestra and a rare live set from songwriting legends Gallagher and Lyle, while the only Scottish performance of OperaUpClose’s Olivier award-winning production of La Boheme and the Scottish debut of Dutch street dance crew The Ruggeds, who come to St Andrews fresh from working with Justin Bieber and Rita Ora, are amongst other highlights.

Two Grand St Andrews ceilidhs are also planned for July 6 and 28, with a live band led by top broadcaster and musician Billy Anderson.

Meanwhile, the Byre In The Botanics big screen will be showing a host of favourite family movies including Frozen on July 7, The Secret Life of Pets on July 21 and Up on July 28.

There are fun activities planned for before the films, ranging from Gruffalo trails around the gardens to a plant potting workshop.

The Byre Theatre’s artistic director Liam Sinclair said: “Building on the success of the inaugural event last year, we have a varied programme that our audiences will enjoy.”
