Bryde

Beat Generator Live! Dundee May 1

- alan wilson

Welsh singer-songwriter Bryde is a girl and an electric guitar, singing fierce and fragile songs.

Real name Sarah Howells, she is also one half of Paper Aeroplanes and launched her solo career under the name of Bryde two years ago.

Influenced by the likes of Scout Nibblet, PJ Harvey, Ben Howard and Sharon Van Etten, she has just released her latest single, Less.

Her previous two EPs, EP1 and EP2 brought her critical acclaim, and the releases have cemented Bryde’s position at the top of new electric guitar-wielding female artists, alongside the likes of Angel Olsen, Mitski and St. Vincent.

Her music deals with human psychology and the darker side of broken relationships but with an infectious defiant and lifeaffirming quality.

Last year was a whirlwind experience on the live circuit, including opening for Rufus Wainwright, two sold-out London headliners, debut shows in New York, Nashville and Los Angeles and her maiden UK headline tour.
