‘No sus­pi­cious cir­cum­stances’ over body found at coastal path

Po­lice are con­duct­ing in­quiries af­ter the body of a pen­sioner was dis­cov­ered at a lo­cal beauty spot.

Of­fi­cers were scram­bled to Shell Bay, near Elie, along with the coast­guard and the crew of the An­struther lifeboat on Sat­ur­day morn­ing.

An in­ves­ti­ga­tion has been launched, how­ever, po­lice have said that there do not ap­pear to be any sus­pi­cious cir­cum­stances.

A state­ment from the force said: “Po­lice in Fife can con­firm that a body of a 71-year-old man has been found at an area near the Coastal Path at Elie, Fife.

“In­quiries are at an early stage but there do not ap­pear to be any sus­pi­cious cir­cum­stances.”
