MSPs should appoint head of force watchdog
Holyrood should decide who heads up the Police Scotland watchdog in the wake of a series of crises engulfing the force, says Willie Rennie.
The Scottish Liberal Democrat leader said confidence needs to be restored and accountability strengthened in the police.
Chief Constable Phil Gormley is being investigated for gross misconduct following allegations made by a superintendent.
“The investigation into the conduct of the chief constable and the decision by the Scottish Police Authority not to suspend him is further evidence that the system needs reformed,” said Mr Rennie.
