Small target is a hard bug to find

The Courier & Advertiser (Fife Edition) - - NEWS -

A common hospital bug resistant to antibiotics evades the immune system by making itself a small target, scientists have discovered.

Enterococcus faecalis, which causes hospital-acquired urinary tract and heart valve infections, forms pairs or short chains of cells.

Research now suggests targeting the mechanisms controlling the formation of short chains of cells could be a novel strategy for developing new treatments to fight the bug.
