A chilling reminder
In these politically unpredictable times, the weekend’s commemorations of the centenary of the Battle of Passchendaele bring a sobering reminder of the dreadful cost of war.
The carnage is beyond comprehension – an estimated 325,000 Allied casualties, and 260,000 to 400,000 Germans either died or were injured in the battle.
It is a time to remind ourselves that these horrors must never be repeated. Lest we forget.
