“I was interested in the recent photograph of the old Kinross Fever Hospital,” says a Dundee reader. “When I was a teenager living in Edinburgh, I was president of the youth club in North Morningside Church. We went to Kinross two years running as the building was hired out for groups. This was around the 1950s.
“I remember that it was extremely warm inside as the building was woodlined corrugated iron. It’s also interesting to note that we went by train from Edinburgh to Kinross, which it is no longer possible to do.”
“The butterflies are pretty scarce again this year,” says Eric Niven of Dundee, “but Tentsmuir forest is a bit of a stronghold for various types – like this tiny Small Copper I spotted near Morton lochs.”
