Lib Dems announce candidate

The Courier & Advertiser (Fife Edition) - - NEWS -

Callum Hawthorne has been selected as the Liberal Democrat candidate for the Inverkeithing and Dalgety Bay by-election on September 6.

He said a new Inverkeithing high school and opposition to Edinburgh Airport’s flight path changes were his priorities.

The Inverkeithing man has also called for more local investment.

“I am excited to stand for my local area for the Liberal Democrats,” he said.

“The Inverkeithing and Dalgety Bay Ward has been neglected by the SNP/Labour Fife Council for too long and with the local Tories being divided on the council we need a strong voice for the local area.

“If elected I would be a local champion and will put Inverkeithing and Dalgety Bay first above party politics.”

The seat became vacant when Labour councillor Lesley Laird, now Shadow Scottish Secretary, stepped down.
