Women ten­nis play­ers should play five-set matches at Wim­ble­don like the male play­ers, ar­gue aca­demics Dr Paul Davis and Lisa Ed­wards. In their 2017 paper, they say the prac­tice un­der­lines false be­liefs about women’s phys­i­cal lim­i­ta­tions, as well as fu­elling the ar­gu­ment against equal prize money which women fought for so long to achieve.
