Technical hitch delays Steamie’s opening night

-

The opening night of a popular Scottish play at Dundee Rep theatre has had to be rearranged following a technical hitch.

A production of The Steamie was due to go ahead next Monday but has been pushed back after issues on the current production, August: Osage County.

Dundee Rep has not revealed details of what has caused the setback, but it is understood the set of Osage County has damaged the stage floor.

Monday’s show has been rearranged for the following Sunday and customers who bought tickets for the show have been advised they can attend the rescheduled matinee date, apply for a full refund or transfer their tickets for a different evening.

A spokesperson for Dundee Rep said: “We were very sorry to inform our customers that… we have had to cancel the first night of The Steamie on Monday September 18.

“This is not a decision we took lightly, but for the good of the production and the rest of the run we need to ensure the technical issue is properly resolved before we open the show. We have been working closely with the producers of The Steamie and arranged an extra performance at the Rep on Sunday September 24 at 2.30pm.”
