Teenager ad­mits charge of dan­ger­ous driv­ing

An An­gus learner driver who suf­fered brain dam­age af­ter his ve­hi­cle col­lided with an on­com­ing lorry has pled guilty to dan­ger­ous driv­ing.

The 17-year-old pro­vi­sional li­cence holder, who can­not be named for le­gal rea­sons, ad­mit­ted dan­ger­ous driv­ing along the A933 road between Ar­broath and Brechin in Fe­bru­ary.

With two pas­sen­gers in his ve­hi­cle, the learner ad­mit­ted he drove close to other cars be­fore los­ing con­trol, strik­ing a grass verge and hit­ting an on­com­ing lorry.

The in­juries suf­fered by the young driver were de­scribed to For­far Sher­iff Court as “sig­nif­i­cant”.

Sher­iff Gre­gor Mur­ray de­ferred the case un­til Novem­ber 9.
