Teenager admits charge of dangerous driving

-

An Angus learner driver who suffered brain damage after his vehicle collided with an oncoming lorry has pled guilty to dangerous driving.

The 17-year-old provisional licence holder, who cannot be named for legal reasons, admitted dangerous driving along the A933 road between Arbroath and Brechin in February.

With two passengers in his vehicle, the learner admitted he drove close to other cars before losing control, striking a grass verge and hitting an oncoming lorry.

The injuries suffered by the young driver were described to Forfar Sheriff Court as “significant”.

Sheriff Gregor Murray deferred the case until November 9.
