Talks with alternative providers have begun

The Courier & Advertiser (Perth and Perthshire Edition) - - NEWS -

The Courier has learned discussions with another provider about potentially taking over Finavon Court in Glenrothes have started.

Councillor Fiona Grant, Glenrothes area committee convener, said she had been assured elected members will be kept up-to-date.

“I am sorry that the residents, their families, staff and volunteers of Finavon face uncertainty especially as we approach the festive season...” she said.

Shirley-Anne Somerville, MSP for Dunfermline, said the news for people who call Gillie Court and Grants Bank home will come as a “major disappointment”.

Saying she had written to Bield, she added: “Specifically, I’ve asked what discussions are being had with other care providers to take over management of each care home.

“I’m also calling on Bield to do everything possible to ensure that the residents of Gillie Court and Grants Bank are placed at the centre of any changes Bield makes to its services.

“Bield must urgently provide them (the residents) with answers about their future...

“Regarding care home staff, I would expect Bield to have a positive and constructive attitude toward requests for voluntary redundancy, and to make every effort to support them at this time.”
