Doing our bit

-

Over the last few weeks NHS Tayside has been experiencing exceptional demand due to an increase in the number of patients being admitted into hospital with respiratory conditions and flu-like illnesses.

Dr Anne Marie Karcher, lead infection prevention and control doctor, said: “There are many bugs and viruses circulating in the community, including flu. To help reduce the spread of infection, we are urging members of the public to avoid visiting their friends and relatives in hospitals if they are suffering from respiratory illness or flu-like symptoms themselves.

“This will help reduce the spread of illness amongst patients and our staff.

“The winter period can be challenging due to the high volume of patients requiring care and it is important to remember that everyone has a role to play to help us reduce winter pressures.”
