St Patrick’s first taste of Irish soil recreated in style

Marty Burns as Saint Patrick is brought to shore past Downpatrick Cathedral as the re-enactment of Saint Patrick’s first landing in Ireland took place yesterday at Inch Abbey in Northern Ireland. The Irish annals for the fifth century date Patrick’s arrival in Ireland in the year 432. The remains of the patron saint of Ireland are believed to be buried at Down Cathedral. Saint Patrick’s Day is celebrated on March 17.
