Pipeline fault left homes without running water for 24 hours

-

Engineers battled through the night to fix a burst water main in rural Perthshire.

The fault meant homes around Forgandenny were left without running water for about 24 hours.

Scottish Water said the burst was reported at about 9am on Saturday. Bottled water was made available from the village hall throughout the day, but residents said there was not enough to meet demand.

Engineers said they had hoped to fix the problem by late afternoon, but the repair was not completed until 7am yesterday. Scottish Water apologised to residents for the delay, and the shortage of bottles of water.
