Manhunt as 18-year-old is victim of rape ordeal
Officers going door to door conducting inquiries after incident in Kelty
Police have launched a manhunt after an 18-year-old woman was subjected to a rape ordeal in Kelty.
Officers said the teenager was attacked in a car in the town before being found in Limepark Crescent at around 11.15pm.
Police Scotland said the suspect, who was driving the car, had a tanned complexion, dark hair and a dark beard.
Officers are still trying to find out more about the vehicle and are examining CCTV footage from Monday when the attack happened for additional information.
Detective Inspector Kelly McEwan said: “The incident occurred between 10.55pm and 11.15pm approximately, and the victim had previously been in the area of Main Street, Kelty.
“I am appealing to members of the public who were in the area who may have seen something which could be significant to us.
“In particular, I would ask taxi drivers and motorists with dash cams to check their footage.
“It’s possible they have captured images of the vehicle which could prove vital in our inquiries.
“I am also appealing for the driver of a dark-coloured car seen in the area of Seafar Drive, Blairadam Crescent and Limepark Crescent at about 11.15pm to come forward as they may be a crucial witness.
“I’m aware this incident may cause concern for the local community, however, additional officers will be in the area and anyone with concerns can approach these officers.”
Residents in Limepark Crescent, the quiet residential street where the woman sought help, said police had been going door to door in recent days.
Some said they only heard about the incident when officers knocked at their homes.
One resident who lives in the area said: “My house has CCTV and the police came and took it last night.
“They were chapping on doors asking if there was any CCTV of the area.”
A dog walker who lives nearby expressed shock at what had happened. “My daughter is 18 years old,” he said. “I was walking the dog down here this morning and I saw the police going door to door.
“They’ve got CCTV on Main Street and seemingly the car was spotted there.”
Anyone with information is asked to call Police Scotland on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
