Playing spin is one of my strengths. Manoeuvring the ball around and putting spinners under pressure is one of my strengths, but the guys who are there have done it regularly in first-class cricket and are there for a reason. The IPL was huge for that (playing spin). It is different to a Test match but the basics don’t change: your footwork is paramount.

Excitement is already building for the World Cup next year. It’s been great to see lots of publicity and hopefully everyone getting behind it. Living in London, I got a slight shock on the Tube when I got back from the West Indies to see my ugly mug staring back at me on the platform in one of the adverts. A very weird experience.

Maybe we showed our inexperience, in one sense, in Sub-continent conditions in terms of batting. I was looking around the dressing room at how much cricket people have played in the Sub-continent and it is not a huge amount. I don’t think we should have been chasing 270.We bowled OK but there were chances that we needed to take.

It took me a very long time to make the decision not to go to Bangladesh.There were plenty of sleepless nights. It was tough and I stand by it. I don’t regret it. I didn’t regret it at the time and I don’t think I will in future. If you spend the next few months and years regretting things then it's pointless.Whatever it is in life, you have to make decisions at the time and stick by them.

Ashwin is a good bowler. He uses his variations very well. He’s always looking to attack and outfox a batsman. I could pick his doosra, so I was OK. But if England’s batsmen can’t pick his doosra they’ll have issues. I was always looking to smash his off-spinner.The low bounce might make it harder, but that’s part of the challenge of playing in India.
