Hales on road to recovery
ALEX Hales is set to return to the England set-up sooner than expected having had his cast removed from his broken hand.
Hales was not named in the 14-man squad for the ODI series against the West Indies with thoughts that he was going to be out for six to eight weeks.
However, having had his cast removed, he is able to resume light batting drills wearing a soft cast and Nottinghamshire head coach Peter Moore is confident Hales, 28, will be able to travel to the Caribbean.
Moores said: “Alex is going really well. He had his first cast removed and he now has his soft cast on. That’s put him in a position to be able to do some light batting drills.
“He’s on track to be able to take his place on the tour of the West Indies as it stands. He’s making really good progress.”
