The Cricket Paper - - OPINION -

A GREAT win against St Lucia Stars on Tuesday made us three wins out of four in the Caribbean Premier League and my Jamaica Tallawahs squad look in good shape.

It’s a busy competition, indeed I’m writing this column as I sit in St Lucia airport, but it’s nice to see our different guys hitting their straps as the tournament progresses.

The win against St Lucia saw Andre McCarthy hit a brilliant unbeaten 61. He strikes the ball cleanly and it’s great to see him express himself. He’s taking responsibility in himself and that was a high-class innings.

Our bowlers also did really well with Mohammad Sami taking 3-27 while Kesrick Williams and Rovman Powell claimed two apiece, which really helped us not let the Stars get too far away from us.We always knew we were in with a chance.

In a way, it wasn’t the worst thing to lose our first game because we saw what was needed to be successful very early on and it brought the guys all together. We have only got better since then, but it’s a long tournament and we need to keep this quality going.
