Ace Jor­dan signs on again with new Hove deal

CHRIS Jor­dan will call Sus­sex home un­til at least the end of 2019 af­ter sign­ing a new con­tract with the county.

All-rounder Jor­dan, who has ap­peared for Eng­land in all for­mats, en­joyed a suc­cess­ful 2017, tak­ing 52 wick­ets and scor­ing 483 runs in his 25 matches across the County Cham­pi­onship and T20 Blast.

That in­cluded the 29-yearold mak­ing his high­est first-class score of 147 dur­ing Sus­sex’s fi­nal game of the Cham­pi­onship sea­son against Not­ting­hamshire while he also fin­ished as the club’s sec­ond­high­est wicket-taker in the tour­na­ment.

Now Jor­dan is look­ing ahead to a suc­cess­ful few years at Hove.

He said: “I’m de­lighted to be ex­tend­ing my stay here at a club I have grown to love. There is a lot of tal­ent here and I’m look­ing for­ward to win­ning tro­phies with this great club.”

Jor­dan has played eight Tests, 31 ODIs and 26 T20s for Eng­land since mak­ing his in­ter­na­tional de­but in Septem­ber 2013.

He was Sus­sex’s lead­ing wicket-taker in the 2017 T20 Blast, claim­ing 16 dis­missals in 14 matches.

Keith Green­field, Sus­sex’s Di­rec­tor of Cricket, ex­pressed his plea­sure at Jor­dan’s de­ci­sion to ex­tend his time at the club: “It’s fan­tas­tic that CJ has signed a con­tract ex­ten­sion, fur­ther com­mit­ting his fu­ture to the club.

“He is be­com­ing a key, se­nior fig­ure in the squad and is play­ing an im­por­tant role in de­vel­op­ing the younger bowl­ing group.”
