Robert Walters buoyed by UK’s tech jobs boom

RECRUITER Robert Walters has upgraded its profit forecasts for the second consecutive quarter thanks to a boost in technology and legal jobs in the UK.

The firm now thinks pretax profits will be ahead of market expectations for the full year after its fees in the three months to Sept 30 grew by 21pc on the same period last year to £90.7m.

The company appears to have shaken off much of the slowdown in the employment market that followed last year’s Brexit referendum, reporting that jobs in London’s technology and legal sectors had been particularly plentiful this year.

UK regions delivered good growth, with St Albans and Manchester the standout performers, it said. It also benefited from a ramping up of its recruitment outsourcing business, Resource Solutions. The news follows a slower period for Robert Walters and its peers.
