JP Mor­gan third-quar­ter earn­ings beat es­ti­mates

JP Mor­gan Chase beat Wall Street es­ti­mates for its third-quar­ter earn­ings, post­ing a quar­terly profit of $6.7bn (£5bn), 7pc higher than a year ago, as the US bank earn­ings sea­son kicked off. The in­crease was driven by the bank’s con­sumer and busi­ness unit, which was up 16pc, while earn­ings fell 13pc in its cor­po­rate and in­vest­ment di­vi­sion.
