Profits at Halfords slumped 23pc in the last six months as the bikes-to-motorparts business faced restructuring costs and challenging conditions on the high street. The retailer, which had warned profits would take a hit as it steps up its investment in new stores to become a services “super specialist”, said pre-tax profits fell 23pc to £28.2m on revenues of £599.9m, up 2.5pc on a year ago.
