Hosts still need to sort out their set-piece

England’s set-piece problems re-emerged against the powerful and athletic Fiji side. Alarmingly, England were twice driven off their own ball at scrum time, with Fiji scoring a try by Nadolo from the second concession. It was only the intervention of the Television Match Official that ruled out a second try when Nikola Matawalu had been able to run 40 metres to the line after England’s back row had been sucked in by a dominant rightshoulder Fijian scrum. England’s line-out also wobbled until Tom Wood took control.
