As be­fits some­one who is halfS­cot­tish, the ori­gins of Ken’s sur­name can be found north of the border. Specif­i­cally, it can be linked to an an­cient barony cre­ated in West Loth­ian, which ap­pears to have been named af­ter an in­di­vid­ual called Livin­gus, who was ac­tive in the area in 1124, there­fore giv­ing rise to the name Liv­ingston(e) and its vari­ants.
