THREETOPBARCABARS

The Daily Telegraph - Saturday - - Food & Drink -

Vinya-Roel, 190-192 C/ Villaroel, 08036 Barcelona (0034 93 430 7279) A dramatically designed venue, with fantastic food (I strongly recommend the slow-roast shoulder of kid) and beautifully-lit, soaring wine racks crammed with absurdly well-priced treats including many cavas. Heaving with the in-crowd.

Comerç24, 24 C/de Comerç, 08003 Barcelona, (0034 93 319 2102) A frightfully trendy restaurant, with fabulous modern tapas created by celebrity chef Carles Abellan. With an excellent, regularly changing wine list and a disarmingly helpful (Belgian) sommelier, this is hugely popular with Barcelona’s movers and shakers.

Espaisucre, 53 C/Princesa, 08003 Barcelona (00 34 93 268 1630) This is the place to come if you have a sweet tooth. Although one or two savoury tapas are available, the tiny Espaisucre specialises in puddings, serving them dish after dish with carefully chosen dessert wines. Gloriously self-indulgent and not to be missed.
