Comerç24, 24 C/de Comerç, 08003 Barcelona, (0034 93 319 2102) A fright­fully trendy restau­rant, with fab­u­lous mod­ern tapas cre­ated by celebrity chef Car­les Abel­lan. With an ex­cel­lent, reg­u­larly chang­ing wine list and a dis­arm­ingly help­ful (Bel­gian) som­me­lier, this is hugely pop­u­lar with Barcelona’s movers and shakers.

Es­paisu­cre, 53 C/Princesa, 08003 Barcelona (00 34 93 268 1630) This is the place to come if you have a sweet tooth. Al­though one or two savoury tapas are avail­able, the tiny Es­paisu­cre spe­cialises in pud­dings, serv­ing them dish af­ter dish with care­fully cho­sen dessert wines. Glo­ri­ously self-in­dul­gent and not to be missed.
