Re­cent re­search re­vealed 11 per cent of eight-year-olds don’t know where pork chops or cheese come from. Many more have no idea of the ori­gin of yo­gurt.

Two per cent of city chil­dren quizzed think that eggs come from cows; and many are con­vinced that ba­con is the pro­duce of ei­ther cows or sheep.
