Raymond Evison, the veteran clematis expert and grower based on Guernsey, who was awarded his 25th gold medal at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show this year, has been honoured with a special issue of stamps by the Guernsey Post. Called the Raymond Evison 25 Years of Gold issue, six of Evison’s clematis are featured, five of which were shown at Chelsea this year: Anna Louise; Chelsea; Giselle; Samaritan Jo; and The Countess of Wessex. The sixth clematis, Edda, will be shown at Chelsea 2014.

Raymond has also become an expert photographer over the last 30 years, prompted by the desire to showcase his clematis in books and catalogues, and it is his images that are shown on the stamps.
