WINES OF THE WEEK

PIANER PROSECCO LE COLTURE EXTRA DRY NV

Italy (11%, Corney & Barrow, £14.95)

A classically styled, poised prosecco, delicately creamy, with elegant aromas and flavours of white flowers, apples and pears and just enough sweetness to make it sing.

MALIBRAN CREDAMORA VALDOBBIADENE PROSECCO 2016

Italy (11%, Passione Vino, £24) looks cloudy and has a faint, yeasty tang, with an aroma of ripe fruit and old bread. Spain (14%, Tesco, £8 down to £6 until Nov 12; there’s also 25 per cent off six bottles until Oct 31)

My third wine is a juicy, textural red originating from north-eastern Spain, made using the fruit of old vines. It’s delicious – I love the fine grain that garnacha can sometimes have, along with its sweetly ripe red fruit. Smooth, rich and full-bodied with a lightly spiced flavour.
