Viljoen chalks up career-best 15 wickets in Derbyshire victory
A superb display of fast bowling by Hardus Viljoen ended Sussex’s promotion hopes from Division Two and inspired Derbyshire to only their second County Championship win of the season. The South African took the first eight wickets in the second innings as Derbyshire recorded a 45-run win at Hove. Viljoen followed up his seven wickets in the first innings by taking eight for 90 as he finished the match with a career-best 15 for 170.
Worcestershire successfully chased 132 to beat Leicestershire by six wickets to move to the brink of promotion. Northampton-shire kept themselves in the promotion chase with a seven-wicket win over Glamorgan.
Warwickshire, having been beaten by Essex on Thursday, had their relegation from Division One confirmed yesterday after the victory for Somerset against Lancashire and draws for Yorkshire (v Surrey) and Middlesex (v Hampshire).
