Shkodran Mustafi has praised Arsenal head coach Unai Emery for providing the club with a potent mix of “freedom and discipline” that has helped them to avoid defeat in their last 14 matches.

“For me, the biggest thing is that he is someone who really knows what he wants from each player,” Mustafi said of Emery. “He tells you exactly what he wants you to do but at the same time he gives you freedom to expose your talent.”

Arsenal can guarantee a place in the knockout stages with a victory. They have won all three of their matches in Europe this season, including a 1-0 triumph over Sporting in Lisbon last month.

Mustafi has formed a strong partnership with Rob Holding. The pair impressed in Saturday’s 1-1 draw with Liverpool.

“That was the first game I felt like we came out from the first minute and we were everywhere until the 90th minute so I feel like there is a good mix between discipline and freedom,” Mustafi said. “I think that we are very good attacking, and that makes the defensive work a bit easier. Even when we lose the ball we are pressing straight away.”
