Blow for All Blacks as Moody suf­fers hor­rific eye in­jury

New Zealand will be with­out Joe Moody for the re­main­der of their Eu­ro­pean tour af­ter the 30-year-old loose­head prop suf­fered an eye in­jury in train­ing on Tues­day.

Moody split his eye­lid dur­ing a line-out drill and re­quired three lay­ers of stitches from a plas­tic sur­geon. The wound seemed to have left his left eye vir­tu­ally closed.

Karl Tu’inukuafe, nom­i­nated for World Rugby’s break­through player of the year award, is in line to start against Eng­land at Twick­en­ham, while coach Steve Hansen con­firmed An­gus Ta’avao would be called up as a re­place­ment.
