Hits from Milan’s design week

Now in its 56 th year, Milan’s salone del Mobile has grown from a st aid trade fair into a week-long, citywide celebration of design attracting hundreds of thousands of visitors. Huge conceptual installations from big brands have been a growing trend in recent years, and product designs are often presented in isolation or in graphic tableaux (if at all ), but, refreshingly, a number of designers and manufacturers showed their new offerings in intimate ‘domestic’ settings last month. London-based company sé set it s glamorous creation sin an apartment with silk-lined walls and over-sized palms( above ), while Danish brand Carl Hansen & søn enlisted the talents of British stylist Despina Curtis to create the interiors for a two-storey ‘home’ that it built at the fair (left). the result was a beguiling mix of timeless furniture with contemporary styling – the perfect formula for a well-dressed home.
