Milan’s governing fashion body, Camera Nazionale della Moda, along with Eco-age founder Livia Firth, took over the city’s La Scala during Fashion Week for the Green Carpet Fashion Awards at a sumptuous event to celebrate all things eco-minded – although the hemp bags were swapped for full-scale glamorous gowns as supermodels and super activists alike made their way through the grand courtyard. The event, honouring fashion houses and individuals devoted to helping the environment, was the brainchild of Firth, whose husband Colin was on hand to lend support, having recently become an Italian citizen. Naomi Campbell arrived fresh from her triumphant turn on the Versace catwalk along with the other 1990s supers to raise a glass to Gisele Bündchen, who won the Eco Laureate award for her work in her native Brazil. Green is the new black, clearly.
