Model Toni Garrn sets out her stall for a good cause
All the latest from the fashion front line
Designer resale websites can offer a thrill akin to that successful charity-shop or vintage -store vi sit, allowing you to sit in the comfort of your own home surfing the net, looking for hidden gems. And two of the leading resale sites – Vestiaire Collective and Rebelle – are now giving to charity, too.
Vestiaire Collective has partnered with model Toni Garrn to host her third ‘charity flea market’. Garrn has rustled together 100 pieces from model chums – including Kate Moss, Naomi Campbell, Gisele Bündchen and Jourdan Dunn – which will go on sale on the site on 2 November. Worried that you’re not quite of supermodel proportions? Panic not. Vestiaire Collective will also host a pop-up market in London between 10 and 12 November, selling pre-owned pieces donated by Garrn and friends, as well as pieces from brands that wanted to support the campaign. One hundred per cent of the proceeds from both sales will go to the Toni Garrn Foundation, which supports e ducation for girls in Zimbabwe, working to provide them with a safe learning environment (vestiarecollective.com).
Meanwhile, if you are selling rather than buying, Rebelle now has a charitable-donation element built into its site. Simply check the box, decide on what percentage of the sale you’d like to donate and wait for that happy shopper to come along. The site will also waive its commission for all charitable sales (rebelle.com).
