More than 2.5 billion people around the world watch the funeral of Diana, Princess of Wales, who was killed in a car crash in Paris in August. Here, Prince Charles accompanies his sons, aged 15 and 12, as they walk behind the coffin from The Mall to Westminster Abbey, along with the Duke of Edinburgh and the Princess’s brother, Earl Spencer. The Prince broke the news of their mother’s death to his sons. ‘He was there for us,’ Prince Harry said years later. ‘He tried to do his best to make sure we were protected and looked after. He was going through the same grieving process as well.’
