Baqueira Beret, Spain

The beginner-friendly slopes and reasonable prices at the relatively unknown resort of Baqueira Beret in the Spanish Pyrenees offer an attractive alternative to the Alps. Inexpensive instruction is available on the excellent nursery slopes with bbskischool, the only Britishrun school in the Pyrenees. Ski Miquel’s Chalet-hotel Salana, which sleeps 33, is the best-value accommodation in the resort and has an outdoor hot-tub.
