THE MIL­FORD TRACK IN NEW ZEALAND

One of the world’s most scenic walks, the 34-mile (54.5km) Mil­ford Track in the Fiord­land Na­tional Park, opens from Oc­to­ber un­til April. A max­i­mum of 40 peo­ple per day are al­lowed on the four-day hike with pre-booked ac­com­mo­da­tion in huts pro­vided along the route (camp­ing isn’t per­mit­ted). Ram­blers Walk­ing Hol­i­days of­fers the track as an add-on to its New Zealand itin­er­ar­ies, but early book­ing is es­sen­tial to be sure of overnight avail­abil­ity.
