SHOPPING around saved Angela Young £150 when she switched her car insurance from Elephant.com to Sheilas’ Wheels.

Ms Young, 32, from Horley, Surrey, bought her silver Ford Puma in 2003. “I had always wanted one and when the finance became available, I jumped at the chance to get the car.”

A friend advised Ms Young, who describes herself as a ‘‘lady of leisure’’ at present – although she does some voluntary work in flower arranging – to check the price of cover for the sporty car.

She found a deal with Sheilas’ Wheels and now pays £323 a year. The policy has a voluntary excess of £200 – the first part of a claim which the policyholder is expected to fund – which helps to keep the premiums down.
