Fined £1,000 af­ter I paid TV licence

Six weeks ago I paid £140.50 for my tele­vi­sion licence us­ing my credit card.

The trans­ac­tion was pro­cessed three days later and shows on my state­ment.

Since then I have re­ceived two let­ters from TV Li­cens­ing threat­en­ing me with a fine of £1,000, as it al­leges I still owe the fee.

It said: “Your ad­dress has been passed to the Lon­don West En­force­ment Di­vi­sion.”

I have tried to ring numer­ous times, but the sys­tem seems to be de­signed for pay­ment, for those who are over the age of 75 who do not have to pay, or those who do not want a TV licence.
