Gogglebox stars’ B&B faces hygiene standards row
Photos taken at an upmarket B&B owned by two television stars are said to show “atrocious hygiene standards”.
The pictures, taken anonymously at the Salutation, owned by Steph and Dom Parker of the reality show Gogglebox, include an oven black with grease and overflowing, blocked sinks.
Other shots show a fridge thick with grime, insects floating in a stew and leftovers in a blocked sink.
Guests at the B&B, in Sandwich, Kent, pay up to £200 per night.
An insider said: “The hygiene standards in the kitchen are absolutely atrocious. People have this image of the hotel being a posh, five-star hotel but that is not the case when you look inside the kitchen.”
The restaurant was given a one star hygiene rating on July 12 by Dover council which said units were “dirty”, fridges and the ice machine “were not clean” and there was an “accumulation of food and debris” under counters.
A representative for Mr and Mrs Parker claimed the pictures showed the B&B’s cellar, where no food is prepared. A spokesman said: “The Salutation takes matters of hygiene and cleanliness very seriously and any matters raised have been noted and addressed accordingly.”
