Minister blocks gay law

A government minister was branded “outrageous” and “mean spirited” after talking out a vote in the House of Commons automatically to pardon gay men convicted of now abolished sexual offences. Sam Gyimah, the justice minister, was heckled with shouts of “shame” after his 20-minute speech prevented a vote on the Turing Bill, brought by the SNP’s John Nicolson.
