Endless bounty The 12 times Labour has already spent its promised corporatio­n tax rise

1. Jeremy Corbyn said in 2015 he would expand adult learning by adding 2 per cent to corporatio­n tax.

2. John McDonnell in 2016 wanted to use the tax for the steel sector.

3. In 2016 Labour said it would fund public sector pay rises partly through a 1 per cent rise in corporatio­n tax.

4. Last year the party said it would pay for student grants through corporatio­n tax.

5. Mr Corbyn said last August tuition fees would be paid by the tax.

6. In November Labour said it would extend pension credits by reversing business tax cuts.

7. Mr McDonnell said last year ditching “giveaways to corporatio­ns” would pay for Universal Credit.

8. He said in November Labour will back the pensions triple lock by not cutting taxes for corporatio­ns.

9. Mr Corbyn in December told the PM to cancel the corporatio­n tax cut and put the money into social care.

10. In January he attacked tax cuts for big business and pledged more NHS cash.

11. In March Labour said it would give schools extra money by increasing corporatio­n tax.

12. Earlier this month Labour said a corporatio­n tax rise would fund bereavemen­t payments.
