Ireland rules out Brexit customs

Ireland does not need customs posts to enforce its border after Brexit, the country’s tax chief has said.

Niall Cody, chairman of Revenue Commission­ers, rejected reports that locations were being sought to build new checkpoint­s.

Speculatio­n has led to landowners along the 310-mile border between Ireland and Northern Ireland – which will become an EU/UK frontier – offering to sell their land.
