A daddy’s girl… or the other way round?

Doting dad: David Beckham with daughter Harper

-

According to a new study, daddy’s girls really do exist. Researchers in Atlanta, Georgia, found that daughters gain more attention from their fathers than sons. If a girl cries out, a dad is more likely to respond to them than he is a boy.

I have a theory about this that some men might find controversial. It is, basically, that men are useless at saying no to members of the opposite sex.

The way my four-year-old winds her father around her little finger is quite fascinating (not to mention educational) to watch.

I was away last weekend and left my other half in sole care of our child. By the time I returned, she had inveigled him into getting her a new pair of shoes (pink and covered in glitter) as well as two Barbies.

“Dad gives me whatever I want,” she said, bluntly.

And I realised that, actually, it was my husband who is a girl’s daddy, and not the other way round.
