Somali Islamists stone to death alleged adulterer
Somali Islamist insurgents stoned a man to death yesterday as punishment for alleged adultery.
Hundreds of witnesses watched the death of Dayow Mohamed Hassan, 44, in Ramo Adey village in the southcentral Bay region, the regional governor representing the al-qaedalinked insurgency said.
Moalim Geedow said Hassan was buried neck-deep in a hole then pelted with stones. “The man was married with two wives and children. He was publicly stoned to death today for committing adultery according to the Islamic sharia,” he said.
Al Shabaab is fighting to overthrow the weak Un-backed government and impose its own version of Islamic law.
