Slaughter in Egypt
SIR – The attack on a bus of Coptic Christians last week (report, May 27) is not the first such mass slaughter in Egypt.
I hold the Egyptian government responsible for the clear increase in violence against Christians in Egypt since the deposition of Hosni Mubarak in 2011. We should stop supporting governments that are incapable of protecting all citizens, regardless of their faith, race, or gender. Until Egypt’s government can take the violence against Coptic Christians seriously and rein in Islamic extremists, Egypt should not be welcome within the community of civilised nations and should not receive a dime from the West.
