Peach in line for top Nato role

Britain’s Chief of Defence Staff is in the running to become the chairman of the Nato military committee.

Air Chief Marshal Sir Stuart Peach is to stand for election for the role, which has not been held by a Briton for more than two decades, in September, according to the Times.

If successful he would step down from his position as head of the Armed Forces after less than two years.
