Court denies dying boy US treatment

-

 Charlie Gard’s mother broke down in tears and screamed at justices as they told her she would not be allowed to take the terminally ill 10-month-old to the United States for treatment.

Chris Gard and Connie Yates wanted judges to allow them to take their son, who suffers from a rare genetic condition, overseas for a therapy trial. Specialists at Great Ormond Street Hospital in London, where Charlie is being cared for, had said the therapy proposed will not help. Yesterday, a panel of three Supreme Court justices dismissed the couple’s latest challenge after a hearing in London.

“How can they do this to us?” she yelled. The couple now hope to turn to the European Court of Human Rights for help.
